Stapleton Insurance Group has remained a family-owned and operated insurance agency for almost a century. Our commitment to our clients has driven us to expand our offices and services throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

    Rudy Stapleton founded Rudy E. Stapleton General Insurance Agency in Swanton, Ohio.

  • 1964

    Rudy’s son, James R. Stapleton, joins the agency and it is renamed Rudy Stapleton & Sons, Inc.

  • 1967

    Rudy Stapleton passes away and Jim Stapleton takes over ownership of the agency.

  • 1980s

    Stan Multhauf, our current CEO, joins the agency from St. Paul Insurance Co.

    Stapleton acquires:

    • Elbright Insurance Agency in Toledo, Ohio
    • Waller Insurance Agency in Swanton, Ohio
    • Kruez-Matthews Insurance in Springfield, Ohio
    • Chamberlain Insurance in Delta, Ohio

    Stapleton opens offices in Springfield, Ohio.

  • 1990s

    Patrick Stapleton joins the agency from Amerisure Insurance.

    Byrne C. Stapleton, our current President, joins the agency from GRE Insurance Group.

    Stapleton acquires:

    • Cook Insurance Agency
    • Ryder Insurance Agency

    Stapleton opens offices in Perrysburg, Ohio.

  • 2000s

    Stapleton acquires:

    • Insurance & Risk Management Agencies of Ohio, Inc.
    • Parrish Insurance in Perrysburg, Ohio
    • Lumbrezer-Malone Insurance in Metamora, Ohio

    Stapleton opens offices in Sylvania and Metamora, Ohio.

  • 2011

    Stapleton acquires:

    • Herrick Insurance in Swanton, Ohio
    • Alpha-Omega Insurance in Holland, Ohio
    • Hecklinger Insurance in Oregon, Ohio

  • 2019

    Stapleton acquires:

    • Benefit Plan Alternatives in Sylvania, Ohio
    • Bokerman, Yackee & Koesters Insurance in Napoleon, Ohio
    • Grisier-Roos Insurance in Wauseon, Ohio

    Stapleton opens offices in Napoleon and Wauseon.

  • 2022

    Stapleton acquires:
